FROM ATHLETE TO IMMOBILE
I grew up playing sports. Movement was my release. My therapy. My joy.
But everything changed when I transitioned into the corporate world in 2006. I traded waves and courts for deadlines and desk chairs.
And I didn’t realize the damage that desk life was silently creating in my body.
Hours of sitting. Poor posture. No ergonomic setup.
By 2017, the pain came knocking—and it didn’t whisper. It screamed.
- I couldn’t bend over to put on my shoes.
- I had to give up all physical activity.
- I felt trapped in my own body.
The MRI confirmed it: Two herniated discs.
The surgeon said, “You’ll need surgery. And no more high-impact sports.”
It felt like my identity was being stripped away in one cold sentence.
MY TURNING POINT
Chiropractic care gave me short-term relief, but nothing sustainable. I kept asking myself:
“Is this really the only way?”
That’s when I turned to physical therapy.
I made it my daily practice. Not just rehab—but a ritual.
- I rebuilt my core.
- I activated muscles that had shut down from inactivity.
- I designed a morning routine that awakened my body and created balance again.
That was the first moment I felt hope.
I wasn’t just healing.
I was coming back to life.

THE HIDDEN ENEMY: POOR ERGONOMICS
I was working long hours on a laptop. No monitor. No support. No awareness.
Being 6’3”, I spent my days looking down—literally and metaphorically.
And slowly, that forward-head posture crept into my spine, my nervous system, and eventually… my sense of well-being.
When I realized how much my environment was working against me, I took a bold step.
CREATING A HEALING WORKSPACE
First, I asked my employer for an ergonomic setup.
They said yes.
That one “yes” created space for healing.
Then during the pandemic, I went all in:
A full $7,000 ergonomic home office investment—chair, desk, monitor, accessories—the works.
And honestly? It was cheaper than one year’s worth of chiropractors, scans, and medical bills.

CLEAR THE MIND – UNCOVERING THE EMOTIONAL ROOTS OF MY PAIN
THE EMOTIONAL WEIGHT I WAS CARRYING
In 2016, before my injury reached its peak, life threw me into survival mode.
I was laid off.
No income for four months.
My lease was up.
My savings were draining fast.
I remember the exact thought looping in my head:
“I’m carrying too much. There’s no one to help me.”
At the time, I didn’t realize the weight I was carrying emotionally was making its way into my body—specifically, my spine.
WHEN THE MIND AFFECTS THE SPINE
In 2019, I began studying NLP and Neuroscience, and that’s when I was introduced to the concept of mental equivalence—the idea that the body often mirrors the mind. That’s when it all clicked.
My thoughts of being unsupported in life were showing up as physical instability in my lower back.
The body was expressing what my mind had suppressed.
My shoulders rounded. My chest caved in. My posture collapsed.
The belief that I had no support turned into the physical reality of my spine losing support.
Even after I got a new job and “felt safe” again, my unconscious mind held onto the emotional residue. And my posture never fully recovered—until I addressed the root.
Through NLP, mindset work, and consistent mental rewiring, I began releasing the emotional pressure.
I practiced self-support.
I created safety from within.
And slowly, my posture lifted—and the pain began to dissolve.
